Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be an emotional journey. Since Chadwick Boseman’s death in 2020, Marvel fans have had to bear the weight of such a sad loss with them every day. As difficult as it has been for viewers across the globe, coming to set for a sequel without the legendary actor was a totally different experience.

It’s difficult to imagine how emotional those first days on site must have been for everyone involved. At the very least, everyone involved is certain that the next film will make Chadwick Boseman proud.

While the actual individuals behind the scenes had to cope with the loss, the characters in the MCU’s fictitious universe also had to deal with it. T’Challa will be dead, according to Disney, and the people of Wakanda will mourn the death of their beloved ruler.

But how will the former King’s sister handle everything? Thankfully, the actress, along with other cast members, was there at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 to provide some insight regarding Shuri’s location in the future film.

Adapting to T’Challa’s Death

Black Panther 2 Actor Reveals How Shuri Reacts to T'Challa's Death

The cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spoke with Black Girl Nerds at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 about what it was like to return to set during the first week of production, with Letitia Wright also discussing how her character, Shuri, responded to the death of her brother.

Wright said that she was practically pregnant while filming the film “attempting treatment at the same time,” and that the “first week… wasn’t easy, but [they] had each other and each day grew better:”

That is the pressing issue. The first week was bizarre. It was just bizarre. We attempted to include your game into the game, into the narrative, but you’re still processing what occurred in the last eight/nine months, you know, and you’re trying to do therapy while doing [the] film. And the issue you mention every day is genuine. They are not forgeries. It wasn’t easy the first week, but we had each other, and each day grew better.”

In terms of her character, she explained that in the aftermath of her brother’s death, Shuri becomes “consumed with her job,” which drives her to “[produce] at another level:”

“Shuri is undeniably preoccupied with her career. Because of her brother’s death, she is so absorbed with her work that she is producing on another, higher level. So there’s a lot of new technology to look forward to, and I believe that’s where her sweet spot is right now. ‘How do I deal with this?’ And she devotes all of her efforts, if not more, to technology. So there are a lot of exciting new things to look out for.”

One of the things Danai Gurira remembered in particular was “”Well, I would say the first week… sometimes it can start off with something that you can kind of, like, not have to really, you know, it’s something more rudimentary—kind it’s of more you just gotta walk from there to there, do you know what I mean?” But there was certainly a sequence that we filmed the first week that [may be heard] in the trailer… and, sure, it was a lot. But, you know, there were a lot of things that week, like coming into the throne chamber for the first time and remembering that [the] previous time I was there, [Chadwick Boseman] was sitting there.”

Gurira went on to explain how she, along with her fellow cast members, relied on some of the new cast members and how “their love, support, and… understanding” was very helpful:

“… We also relied on several of our new cast members, such as Dominique Thorne and Michaela Coel. I remember Michaela being really there for me that day, as if there’s simply their love and support and their understanding of taking care of us in those times when we don’t know what’s going to happen to us that day because grind does that. You have no idea where it’s coming from or how it’s coming. I must say, it’s a lovely new family.”

Shuri becomes absorbed in her work.

Everyone experiences grief differently. People’s journeys to cope with such overwhelming emotions are never simple. Shuri will definitely be devastated by her brother’s death. It seems logical that she would cope with all of this by diving headfirst into her job.

Within pop culture fandom, the consensus is that Letitia Wright’s Shuri is the obvious choice to take up the mantle of Black Panther. It’s unclear whether this is what will happen, but there are plenty of hints that Marvel is heading in that route.

Wright promised an improvement in Shuri’s technological skill; might her prospective new Black Panther suit feature any never-before-seen tricks? Things like that may undoubtedly come in useful when facing up against Namor.

Fans will have to wait until November 11 to find out how everything plays out in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Armor Wars Movie: from Marvel Disney+ Series To A Film

Due to creative adjustments, the TV series starring Don Cheadle will now be turned into an MCU – Armor Wars movie. The most of the Disney+ series that Marvel Studios had planned have already been released, but Armor Wars has been stuck in development for a while. Even though it had been announced in 2020, James Rhodes’ spinoff show hadn’t received any updates until 2022. In 2008’s Iron Man, Terrence Howard played Rhodes; in Iron Man 2, Cheadle took over as War Machine, and he has since continued to feature in several MCU projects.

Despite being a part of Phase 5, the Armor Wars TV series on Disney+ is being redesigned as an MCU – Armor Wars movie, with Don Cheadle remaining attached to play War Machine.

War Machine is followed by Armor Wars following Phase 3, which resulted in the demise of his closest friend, Tony Stark. The Disney+ drama will, according to confirmation, follow the events of Secret Invasion, in which Cheadle will next play the Marvel character. Despite Disney’s commitment to creating the series, Armor Wars was not included in any of the Phases 5 or 6 slates that Marvel Studios presented at San Diego Comic-Con. One of the key Armor Wars stories, according to Cheadle in an interview from earlier this month, would include Tony Stark’s technology going out into the open, with Rhodey having to stop the wrong people from using it.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Armor Wars is being retooled into a feature picture, causing a significant shake-up within Marvel Studios. The company decided that a movie would be a better choice as opposed to a 6-episode series since they were dedicated to “having the tale conveyed the proper way.” The movie’s screenplay will be written by the film’s head writer, Yassir Lester, who is still employed. Production had been planned to begin in 2023, but this most recent development has forced a postponement. The Armor Wars information was released shortly after the director of the Blade reboot was fired.

How the MCU Will Be Affected by the Filming of Armor Wars Movie

Armor Wars

While Armor Wars’ continual postponement is a problem in and of itself, Cheadle’s character might gain from the film’s decision. Despite the fact that War Machine has been in a lot of MCU movies, he has never been the main character in any of the plots. Despite Rhodes having his own show at first, a feature film offers him a greater stage for obvious reasons. Additionally, this would give War Machine his own cinematic prominence after serving as Iron Man’s sidekick throughout the duration of the MCU. Marvel has adapted a product from one medium to another before, and Armor Wars is hardly the only instance of this. The Royal Family was supposed to have its own Phase 3 movie before The Inhumans became a TV show, but instead received a short series on ABC that had a poor outcome.

The length of Armor Wars’ delay as a result of the move from Disney+ to theaters is yet unknown. Armor Wars may have to wait until Phase 6 even if it takes place after Secret Invasion unless Marvel discovers a window in Phase 5 that makes sense. Due to the enormous lag between the conclusion of Secret Invasion and the release of Cheadle’s movie, it’s probable that the tie-ins from Secret Invasion will be eliminated if Armor Wars is redeveloped as a feature film. There is a likelihood that Armor Wars was always a Phase 6 project because the slate wasn’t fully revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. It is unclear how Armor Wars will fare as a movie unless Cheadle, Feige, and Marvel Studios make announcements.
