What happened to Jane Foster between “The Dark World” and “Love and Thunder”?

Jane will be back in Thor: Love & Thunder, but it’s been a long time since she was last seen in the MCU. What happened to her is as follows.

Jane Foster’s last movie in the MCU was 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. Since she’s going to be in Thor: Love & Thunder, which comes out in 2019, we have to wonder what happened to her character in that time. Jane has changed a lot since she left the MCU. When she came back, she was introduced as the Mighty Thor with a fixed Mjolnir, which is a long way from where people last saw her.

Jane Foster was first seen in the MCU in the 2011 movie Thor, which was the first of a series of movies set in the Nordic world. When Thor crashes on Earth, the astrophysicist and his two coworkers, Darcy and Erik, are the first people to find him. Jane is instantly interested in him, and Thor tells her about Asgard and the Nine Realms, which are where he comes from. The fact that they fell in love showed how science and magic come together in the MCU, which is a big part of the story.

Even though she had a good start, her character has had a rough road. She has only been in two MCU movies: Thor and Thor: The Dark World, which was also her last. Since then, her name has only been brought up briefly. First, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it was said that she wasn’t at the heroes’ party because, as one of the best astrophysicists in the world, her work on the Convergence takes her all over the world. Then, in Thor: Ragnarok, which came out two years later, a fan quickly mentioned that Jane and Thor had broken up, and that was the last time she was seen. So, what did she do between The Dark World and Love & Thunder?

Why Jane Foster and Thor broke up

Marvel

As already said, a fan made a joke about how Jane “dumped” Thor, but Thor tried to say it was a “mutual dumping.” At the time, there wasn’t a clear answer, and Ragnarok didn’t spend much time on it, but Love & Thunder will likely give more details. But it’s clear that Jane didn’t like how far apart they were, because in The Dark World, when they meet again, Jane slaps Thor and asks him where he’s been. Thor can’t die, but Jane can, so time probably moves very differently for the two of them. So, it seems likely that they broke up because they lived such different lives.

Thor was always saving the world, and Jane was the best at what she did. She traveled the world and won Nobel prizes in her field. It’s amazing that they ever had time to meet. Even though it sounds like a cliche, the fact that Jane and Thor lived in different worlds probably played a role in why they broke up.

Why Natalie Portman didn’t come back for Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel

Kevin Feige says that Jane wasn’t in Ragnarok because the story takes place in a different world. The characters spend most of their time on Sakaar, the garbage planet that the Grandmaster runs. Before she got her Thor powers, Jane was stuck on Earth, so there doesn’t seem to be any reason for her to be in the story. These claims have also been supported by Natalie Portman. There are, however, rumors going around behind the scenes that Portman’s absence from the MCU after The Dark World was due to problems in the studio. It is said that the fact that her character in the last Thor movie she was in went from being an accomplished scientist to a damsel in distress for no good reason made her want to leave the MCU. Also, Patty Jenkins, who directed Wonder Woman, was supposed to direct a Thor movie. Portman liked the idea, but Jenkins left the project, which may have caused problems and led to her not being in Ragnarok.

Was Jane Foster snapped?

Marvel

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos’ snap made a lot of MCU characters vanish, including some that we never saw. Even Betty Ross from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk was caught on camera, according to the Russo Brothers. Even though Jane’s fate was not confirmed in the original script for Avengers: Endgame, the trailer for Love & Thunder seems to hint at it with one small line. Jane thinks that it’s been “three or four years” since she last saw Thor in the movie Thor: Love & Thunder. Thor, on the other hand, says, “Eight years, seven months, and six days.” Since Jane is missing five years, this means that Thanos snapped her in half.

Armor Wars Movie: from Marvel Disney+ Series To A Film

Due to creative adjustments, the TV series starring Don Cheadle will now be turned into an MCU – Armor Wars movie. The most of the Disney+ series that Marvel Studios had planned have already been released, but Armor Wars has been stuck in development for a while. Even though it had been announced in 2020, James Rhodes’ spinoff show hadn’t received any updates until 2022. In 2008’s Iron Man, Terrence Howard played Rhodes; in Iron Man 2, Cheadle took over as War Machine, and he has since continued to feature in several MCU projects.

Despite being a part of Phase 5, the Armor Wars TV series on Disney+ is being redesigned as an MCU – Armor Wars movie, with Don Cheadle remaining attached to play War Machine.

War Machine is followed by Armor Wars following Phase 3, which resulted in the demise of his closest friend, Tony Stark. The Disney+ drama will, according to confirmation, follow the events of Secret Invasion, in which Cheadle will next play the Marvel character. Despite Disney’s commitment to creating the series, Armor Wars was not included in any of the Phases 5 or 6 slates that Marvel Studios presented at San Diego Comic-Con. One of the key Armor Wars stories, according to Cheadle in an interview from earlier this month, would include Tony Stark’s technology going out into the open, with Rhodey having to stop the wrong people from using it.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Armor Wars is being retooled into a feature picture, causing a significant shake-up within Marvel Studios. The company decided that a movie would be a better choice as opposed to a 6-episode series since they were dedicated to “having the tale conveyed the proper way.” The movie’s screenplay will be written by the film’s head writer, Yassir Lester, who is still employed. Production had been planned to begin in 2023, but this most recent development has forced a postponement. The Armor Wars information was released shortly after the director of the Blade reboot was fired.

How the MCU Will Be Affected by the Filming of Armor Wars Movie

Armor Wars

While Armor Wars’ continual postponement is a problem in and of itself, Cheadle’s character might gain from the film’s decision. Despite the fact that War Machine has been in a lot of MCU movies, he has never been the main character in any of the plots. Despite Rhodes having his own show at first, a feature film offers him a greater stage for obvious reasons. Additionally, this would give War Machine his own cinematic prominence after serving as Iron Man’s sidekick throughout the duration of the MCU. Marvel has adapted a product from one medium to another before, and Armor Wars is hardly the only instance of this. The Royal Family was supposed to have its own Phase 3 movie before The Inhumans became a TV show, but instead received a short series on ABC that had a poor outcome.

The length of Armor Wars’ delay as a result of the move from Disney+ to theaters is yet unknown. Armor Wars may have to wait until Phase 6 even if it takes place after Secret Invasion unless Marvel discovers a window in Phase 5 that makes sense. Due to the enormous lag between the conclusion of Secret Invasion and the release of Cheadle’s movie, it’s probable that the tie-ins from Secret Invasion will be eliminated if Armor Wars is redeveloped as a feature film. There is a likelihood that Armor Wars was always a Phase 6 project because the slate wasn’t fully revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. It is unclear how Armor Wars will fare as a movie unless Cheadle, Feige, and Marvel Studios make announcements.
