BMW M3 CSL (G80) is a pipe fantasy that will never be realized.

The original BMW M3 CSL is still one of the most desired BMW automobiles in the world. It was also the most outlandish automobile BMW has ever produced. It was the first BMW with a carbon fiber roof, an asymmetrical air intake in the front bumper, a spectacular carbon fiber intake manifold, and an unique SMG automated-manual transmission. Its naturally aspirated 3.2-liter inline-six produced 360 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The E46 M3 CSL is largely considered to be the best-driving BMW ever.

While the BMW M3 CSL will be discontinued, the first-ever M4 CSL will take its place as the pinnacle sportscar in the M3/M4 family. The M4 CSL was recently showcased before coming on sale in a limited run of 1,000 vehicles later this year. As a result, it’s no surprise that new Photoshop pictures borrow design influences from the M4 CSL and apply them to a fictitious M3 CSL (G80). The render below starts with the G80 M3 Competition before incorporating CSL-like design elements.

BMW M3 CSL (G80) is a dream that will not come true

This BMW M3 CSL has a distinctive kidney grille inspired by BMW Motorsport racing vehicles, as well as a complete carbon fiber hood with functioning vents. The M4 CSL yellow lights, as well as the muscular and attractive front lip, were also imported. Of course, the carbon fiber roof, as well as the CSL wheels and side skirts, are required. This M3 CSL image also has the Frozen Brooklyn Grey metallic paint, which is coupled with red highlights.

This fictitious BMW M3 CSL may be more powerful than the genuine E46 M3 CSL. It would be powered by the S58 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged inline-six, which produces 543 horsepower (550 PS) and 479 lb-ft of torque. It, like the G82 M4 CSL, would only have an eight-speed automatic, an improvement over the SMG in the E46 M3 CSL. A G80 M3 CSL, like the M3 CSL before it, would smash BMW’s lap record at the ‘Ring. The BMW M4 CSL just set a new record of 7:20.2, breaking the 19-year-old M3 CSL.

BMW M has no plans to release a new M3 CSL, according to our sources. However, like with the previous F80 generation, an M3 CS will emerge in 2023 as the top model in the M3 range. According to a reliable source, the 2023 BMW M3 CS will have 540 horsepower, which is slightly less than the 550 horsepower of the 2023 BMW M4 CSL. Furthermore, the BMW M3 CS G80 is said to be offered solely with the xDrive all-wheel system and automatic transmissions.
