Inflation and supply constraints are only two of the reasons why automobile costs have soared in recent years. It’s becoming more costly to get behind the wheel of a new automobile, if you can locate what you’re searching for given the scarcity of inventory. The 2023MY BMW range demonstrates how a single model year change raises pricing across the board. That essentially means that all automobiles are more costly than they were in the 2022MY.
An internal document has surfaced on Bimmer Post, revealing price hikes ranging from $150 for the M340i / M340i xDrive to a staggering $4,200 for the M5. The X6 M also charges a premium over the previous model year, with the 2023 model costing $4,100 more than previously.
Other significant changes include the M3 and M4 Competition with or without xDrive, since both are $3,700 more expensive than previously, as is the ALPINA XB7. If you’re looking for an M550i, we’ve got some bad news for you: its price has been raised by $3,100 for 2023.
Full price adjustments may be seen at the source link, where the paper also contains information regarding modifications for the middle of the model year. For example, the ALPINA B8 has suddenly become $5,000 more costly than previously, while the M8 has seen a $4,200 price hike.
Granted, several of these models have been modified for the 2023 model year, so the price increase is somewhat justified. The rear-wheel-drive M240i will likewise cost $47,900, which is $2,000 cheaper than the xDrive variant. The X1 sDrive28i seems to be discontinued (the next-generation model will be available shortly), while the 230i xDrive is a one-off that costs $39,400. The M4 CSL, with its hefty $139,900 price tag, is, of course, on the list.
As if that wasn’t terrible enough, several solutions are now more expensive than they were in the 2022MY. The front and rear heated seats (4HA option code) are $150 more expensive, and the emergency spare wheel is $100 more expensive than previously. Metallic paints and leather upholstery will cost you extra, as will heated armrests and steering wheel (4HB).
