The latest BMW M3/M4 generation is fantastic. The M3 and M4 are both fantastic driver’s vehicles, with performance and capabilities that outperform their predecessors. However, none of them are really attractive. To be sure, the new grille shape does a lot to spoil otherwise decent designs, but they’re still not particularly appealing overall. If this render is accurate, it may be the best-looking M3/M4 ever, and excuse the wicked grille design–a it’s BMW M4 Shooting Brake.
Car makers use the word “Shooting Brake” loosely, but this rendering depicts a more current interpretation of what a shooting brake is, even if it isn’t precisely the original description. Shooting brakes were once bigger automobiles with huge passenger compartments to accommodate a shooting group. This is not it. Instead, this rendering depicts what a BMW M4 might look like if it mated with a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso.

It retains the two-door design of the BMW M4, but adds a rear hatchback. So, technically, it’s a three-door vehicle. It does, however, look fantastic and would be a welcome addition to the BMW M3 and M4 lineups. Would it be the best-looking model variety if it existed?
I believe this and the M3 Touring would be a tie, although an M4 Shooting Brake would be quirkier and more unusual than even the ultra-rare M3 Touring. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen M4 Shooting Brake renderings, but it’s always nice to see another one since it’s such a great design concept that seems to perform pretty well.
Would you rather have an M4 Shooting Brake or an M3 Touring if BMW ever made such a vehicle (which is unlikely to happen).
