As the holiday season approaches, James Gunn has continued to tease what fans can expect from the forthcoming The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special – GOTG, featuring brand new music. When he came to Twitter to respond to a few inquiries regarding the project, Gunn announced that the special would include a new soundtrack with original songs. The soundtracks to the Guardians of the Galaxy flicks have grown almost as popular as the films themselves, so this news is likely to please fans. It is unknown, due to the nature of the special, whether the soundtrack will include more rock-heavy songs from the previous two films or holiday-themed music.
In another tweet, Gunn elaborated on what fans may anticipate from the special.
In response to a fan’s inquiry, Gunn confirmed that the project will be a television special and not a full-length film. However, it would take place between Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. would be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s canon and will incorporate “some significant new elements in the Guardians’ story.” Current speculations indicate that Gamora is not likely to appear.
Finally, James Gunn noted that not every character from the Guardians Of The Galaxy series would feature in the Holiday Special, notifying a fan that fan-created artwork representing the characters that will appear in the special was false. Gamora is not likely to appear in the film.
The space-faring crew was last seen in the final minutes of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, when Chris Hemsworth’s Thor joined them. Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan, along with other Guardians of the Galaxy performers, will thus appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
