BMW has had a busy 2022 thus far, with the 8 Series LCI, 3 Series LCI / i3, all-new 7 Series / i7, X7 LCI, and M4 CSL, but there’s so much more to come. The M3 Touring, M2, XM, and the yet-to-be-confirmed M4 CSL-based coachbuilt 3.0 CSL are the primary models in question. We’re only 24 hours away from witnessing yet another new product before all of these fantastic M automobiles hit the streets.
The official BMW Group Twitter account has produced a 13-second video stating that the third-generation X1 (codenamed U11) will be unveiled tomorrow, May 31. We’ll also see the completely electric iX1, and maybe a plug-in hybrid version, since three crossovers can be seen hidden in the shadows at the conclusion of the movie.

The accompanying video showcases some of the design features, such as the iX1’s blue highlights and closed-off kidney grille design. The crisp LED taillights styled like a “L” are also briefly seen, as are the daytime running lights at the front, which represent the same letter flipped upside down. We get the notion that the iDrive 8 also has a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it look, which should be the same arrangement as the 2 Series Active Tourer.
Spy pictures have shown that a hot X1 M35i is on the way, however BMW may opt to release the M Performance version later. We do know that the iX1 will be available before the end of the year, consolidating the company’s EV products. Both the sub-iX3 and the mechanically related MINI Countryman EV will be constructed under the same roof at the Leipzig facility.
Both crossovers are expected to expand greatly in size and reach around 4.5 meters (177 inches) long. Only the X1 will retain a PHEV variant, since MINI will discontinue the SE Countryman All4. The Oxford-based business is contemplating another Countryman JCW, similar to how BMW will give its smallest crossover the M Performance treatment.
Keep an eye on this area since we’ll have all the juicy facts regarding the 2023 BMW X1 tomorrow.
