The E30 BMW M3 2.5 Sport Evolution was one of the most unique vehicles ever made by BMW. It was not just a limited-edition version of the renowned E30 M3, but it was also more powerful, more equipped, and perhaps more thrilling than the normal model. As you can expect, this makes the E30 M3 2.5 Evo pretty costly, if you can locate one at all. So we’ll be watching the next Silverstone Auction to see how much this one fetches.
Harry Metcalf’s newest video takes you through some of the vehicles that will be auctioned off, including the E30 M3 2.5 Evo. Metcalf had a basic E30 M3 when it was new and didn’t have the rose-tinted nostalgia it has now, so he’s an excellent judge of character for the vehicle.
On the exterior, there weren’t many aesthetic distinctions between the E30 M3 and the normal E30 M3. The most noticeable difference was the painted BBS wheel centers on the Evo, which were a deeper gray than the dazzling silver barrels. There was also a spoiler on the spoiler, which created some downforce and looked great. Its inside, on the other hand, was completely different, with an Alcantara steering wheel, shift knob, and superb Recaro seats.
The major news was the 16-valve four-cylinder engine, which was increased to 2.5 liters from 2.3 liters in the regular vehicle to produce 238 horsepower, up from 190 horsepower. As a result, it was quicker and punchier at lower revs.
Another BMW up for sale is the E46 M3 CSL, which has received a lot of attention recently. With the arrival of the new M4 CSL, fans are looking back on the previous M3 CSL with even more fondness than they did before. Its 3.2-liter naturally-aspirated I6 engine was a delight to drive, and its chassis balance was nothing short of perfect. Its SMG gearbox was a thorny issue, but that was the sole drawback.
Both vehicles will easily top six figures at auction, which makes us aficionados unhappy. It’s becoming more difficult for ordinary people to get nice historic sports vehicles, particularly classic BMWs. If you have the money, there are two fantastic BMWs up for auction tomorrow, May 28.
