This new feature film will be Dragon Ball Super’s first new anime release in a long time, and it will take place many years after the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. While the manga has already extended the tale beyond the events of Broly, it has yet to incorporate Broly in any meaningful way, which is one of the major reasons fans are so thrilled. With Super Hero, all of that is about to change.
Broly is confirmed to be making his formal comeback to the series in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, but it’s still unclear what he’ll be up to in the next film. Even more intriguing is the fact that Goku and Vegeta will have minor roles in the film, and the current teaser just shows a tiny portion of what the three Saiyans will be doing in the upcoming film. Broly seems to be getting some fresh training, as seen by the short glimpses seen with Broly, Goku, Vegeta, and even Beerus and Whis.
Goku was hinted at the conclusion of Dragon Ball Super: Broly that he would battle Broly again in the future, but with the recent releases of the manga, that has yet to be seen. Since that film, the manga story has gone through two arcs, and Broly’s existence hasn’t even been hinted at. With Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, it looks that Goku and Vegeta will once again battle Broly on Beerus’ planet, where they will be able to unleash the full scope of their abilities. This is also why they are most likely too distracted to assist in the fight against Earth’s new adversaries.
Now it’s only a question of determining if this is training to make Broly stronger (and so get him closer to godhood like Goku and Vegeta) or just another battle that Goku and Vegeta wanted to participate in. The first option is more interesting since it hints Broly’s future participation in the series, but what are your thoughts? In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, what do you want to see with Broly’s return?
