BMW M continues the brand’s 50th anniversary festivities with a global premiere on the shores of Lake Como. The aggressive body shape and striking appearance of the brand-new and first-ever BMW M4 CSL wowed the crowd today. Frozen Brooklyn Grey is a gorgeous color option for the M4 CSL that does not disappoint in person.
The G82 M4 CSL drew a strong audience tonight, as expected, and BMW claims the vehicle is now sold out in most regions. The BMW M4 CSL is priced at 165,000 euros in Germany. The basic MSRP in the United States is $139,900 + $995 destination. BMW will only produce 1,000 M4 CSLs, with distribution details to be released later. In July, production will commence.
The current BMW M4 Competition serves as the foundation for the BMW M4 CSL. It has, however, been given a very similar treatment to its predecessor, with an intense and athletic style. BMW M acquired a surprising amount of technology and know-how from the M4 GT3 racer to get the M4 CSL in fighting form.
More appealing Grilled Kidney
The kidney grille appears better than on the ordinary M3/M4 Competition, which features a revised insert design with significantly more negative space than previously. The hood is adorned with two wide black stripes that are edged in red, and the red trim extends over the roof. A massive front splitter protrudes from the front bumper, a big ducktail spoiler is integrated into the trunk, and yellow headlamps all demonstrate that the CSL is not your typical M4.

BMW M naturally placed the M4 on a diet. The Competition’s curb weight was reduced by 24 kg thanks to lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats. By removing the rear seats and seatbelt systems, another 21 kg was saved. Weight was reduced by further 21 kg thanks to extra-lightweight carbon ceramic brakes, lighter wheels, new springs, and new struts.
BMW saved another 15 lb by removing most of the M4 CSL’s soundproofing and replacing it with a lighter-weight variant. Carbon fiber exterior pieces decreased weight by 11 kg, with titanium exhaust silencers saving another four kg. Finally, another four kilograms were saved by employing less weight components throughout the vehicle, including as the carbon fiber hood, various kidney grilles, rear lights, floor mats, and automated temperature control. For those keeping track, that’s a 100 kg weight decrease, bringing the M4 CSL’s curbweight down to 1,625 kg.
