Butcher and Hughie Temp V in ‘The Boys’ risks and creation explained

Will taking Temp V cause death for Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban)? When Starlight (Erin Moriarty) learned that Hughie had taken the Temp V, she became enraged.

She reminded him that it was dangerous to use the medicine even once because Vought was unable to complete his safety tests. He could have lost his life attempting it on his own.

Hughie dismissed Starlight’s worries. He didn’t care about the consequences because he was anxious to save her for once in his life. Butcher persisted in using the Temp V so he would have a chance against Homelander (Antony Starr).

When using the Temp V, will Butcher and Hughie perish?
Our two favorite anti-heroes are still alive and well as of this writing. However, the series has shown that using Temp V in any form can be risky for adults. When given to infants, it appears to be more beneficial, though not all kids absorb it well even then.

It’s the reason Nadia/Victoria (Claudia Doumit) wound up as an orphan at the Red River home. Because she was unable to manage her abilities, she accidently killed her parents.

When Nadia/Victoria injects Compound V into her daughter, the girl writhes in excruciating anguish as well.

After taking his first dose of Temp V, Butcher too feels the negative effects. When Grace Mallory (Laila Robins) is describing what happened in Nicaragua with Team Payback, he must leave the room to vomit because he is unable to suppress the temptation.

How was Temp V created by Vought?

At the Sage Grove Center, Vought conducted covert experiments on the effects of Compound V on adults. In Season 2, The Boys learned of Vought’s experiments’ devastating outcomes.

The adults confined inside weren’t necessarily unstable in their own right. Their bodies, however, had trouble adjusting to Compound V. Due to the unstable nature of their abilities, all of the adult test participants were being held captive at Sage Grove by Vought.

Following the Stormfront (Aya Cash) controversy, Vought was compelled to stop Compound V testing and shipment. However, some of the Temp V created as a result of the Sage Grove trials were taken by Queen Maeve (Domonique McElligott).

Maeve offered Butcher the Temp V doses to help him in their shared effort to end Homelander once and for all. Butcher makes an effort to keep the dosages from Hughie. Butcher projectile vomits on Hughie, who then learns about the Temp V.

Will Hughie’s quest to feel more manly for Starlight lead to his demise? Hughie doesn’t worry about the negative effects of Temp V.

Hughie and Butcher really take Compound V right away in the original comics, on which The Boys is based, and it doesn’t kill them. It remains to be seen if the show will adopt this strategy or not!

Every Friday, The Boys Season 3 episodes are released on Prime Video.
