The Boys will be back for a fourth season. Here’s what we know so far about the next chapter of Amazon’s scary comic book show.
Think about what was going on in pop culture in July 2019. Avengers: Endgame, the biggest superhero movie event of all time, had just come out a few months before, Far From Home ended on a huge Spider-Man cliffhanger, and the DCEU was still in the Snyder Cut campaign.
Then the first season of The Boys came out, which was a whole new kind of hard-edged, guts-and-lasers TV that made superheroes look like egotistical, overzealous maniacs. It was picked up for a second season before it even came out, and as Amazon had hoped, it was a huge hit right away all over the world.
Since then, the number of people who watch it has gone up and up, and Season 3 may be the best episode yet. Lucky for us, there’s more to come.

MM, Butcher, and Hughie open the trunk of a car. All three are expected to be back for Season 4 of The Boys.
When will Season 4 of The Boys come out?
We don’t know when Season 4 of The Boys will come out yet, but we’ll update this article as soon as we find out.
On June 10, 2022, a week after Season 3 came out on Prime Video, Deadline was the first to report that it would be renewed. According to data from the platform, the number of people watching The Boys around the world has grown by 17 percent since Season 1 and by an incredible +234 percent since Season 2.
Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios, said, “From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season 3 of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder, which is an impressive feat given how popular the Emmy-nominated second season was.”
Showrunner Eric Kripke added, “We’re excited to continue Butcher and The Boys’ fight against Homelander and The Seven and to comment on the crazy world we live in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia have led to more success.

Karl Urban told Collider in a recent interview that Season 4 will start filming in August of this year, so we can probably expect it to come out in 2023.
He said, “We’re going to start.” I think the fourth season will start on August 22. I’m coming back, and I can’t wait to get my Butcher back on. We work hard and play hard, and it’s fun to be a part of this group. I can’t wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season.”
The Boys Season 4 is expected to bring back Black Noir, Starlight, Homelander, Queen Maeve, and A-Train in a Vought movie.

Who will come back for Season 4 is anyone’s guess.
Who is coming back for Season 4 of The Boys? Are there any new characters?
Since Season 3 is still going on and its finale isn’t coming out until July 8 on Prime Video, we can’t say for sure who will be back. When it comes to The Boys and deaths, anything could happen.
But that means that there’s no reason why we shouldn’t expect everyone to come back, including:
- Karl Urban as Butcher
- Jack Quaid as Hughie and Laz Alonso as MM.
- Frenchie, played by Tomer Capone
- Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko
- Annie January/Starlight was played by Erin Moriarty.
- Antony Starr on the show Homeland
- Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy
- The Deep, played by Chace Crawford
- Dominique McElligott as Maggie Shaw/Queen Maeve
- A-Train stars Jessie T. Usher.
- As Black Noir, Nathan Mitchell
- Ashley Barrett is played by Colby Minifie
- Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman
The official Twitter account for The Boys posted a collage of most of the cast to announce the fourth season. Capone was missing, though, so some people thought Frenchie might die in the last episode.

At the time of writing, we don’t know if there will be any new characters, but if there are, we’ll let you know here.
But there may already be a new member of the cast. After Ackles’s first appearance as Soldier Boy, Jeffrey Dean Morgan may join The Boys as another Winchester.

Kripke told E! News, “Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a big fan of the show, so he and I talk about it.”
“We’re trying to figure out what Season 4 will be like.” So far, nothing is set in stone, but he and I are talking and e-mailing to see if we can fit it into his busy schedule. So, keep an eye out for that.”
What will happen in The Boys Season 4?
Since Season 3 is still going on, we don’t know how it ends, so we have no idea what may or may not happen in Season 4. We will update this article as soon as Kripke and the cast give us an official synopsis or hints about what will happen.

Depending on how the third season ends, the tension between Soldier Boy and Homelander may grow into another chapter.

In Season 3 of The Boys, Homelander and Soldier Boy go up against each other.
In Episode 6, also called “Herogasm,” Soldier Boy and Homelander fought each other.
What has happened so far in Season 3 of The Boys?
At the end of Season 2, it was revealed that Neuman was a superhero who had used her powers to blow up a lot of heads in Congress. Hughie started the season working for her. He helped Butcher, Frenchie, and Kimiko find supes the right way, which made them angry.
In the first episode, Termite, the show’s version of Ant-Man, crawls into his boyfriend’s penis, sneezes, and causes him to burst open, his guts falling off the bed and onto the floor. This is the show’s most gruesome moment to date.
Behind Vought’s back, Maeve has been secretly helping Butcher. She gives him temporary Compound V, which gives him superpowers like laser vision and super-strength. She tells him to look into how Soldier Boy and Payback died because it could lead to a weapon that can kill Homelander.

In Season 3 of The Boys, Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy.
Soldier Boy might be able to beat Homelander.
When Hughie finds out that Neuman is a supe and that he betrays Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) and gives Homelander control of Vought, he goes back to Butcher and gets the old team back together for a job in Russia. There, they find Soldier Boy still alive but not in great shape. He lets off a huge radioactive blast that knocks Kimiko out.
Oh, and Hughie uses Compound V to learn how to teleport. Starlight doesn’t like it and begs him to stop, but Hughie keeps doing it. This is putting their relationship on hold for now.
Even though MM wants revenge because Soldier Boy killed his grandfather by driving a car through his apartment, The Boys help Soldier Boy find the ex-Payback supes who betrayed him. In return, he says he will kill Homelander.

In Season 3 of The Boys, Starlight kisses Homelander.
Vought made Homelander and Starlight get together against their will.
Homelander, on the other hand, has been going off track since the first episode. After it was found out that Stormfront was a Nazi, he was put in the middle of a PR nightmare, which got worse when Stormfront killed herself by biting off her own tongue just hours before his birthday special.
But things get better when Homelander uses the airtime of his celebrations to go on a far-right rant, which makes his ratings soar. There’s also the matter of Starlight, whose high ratings have forced her into a fake relationship with Homelander, which has been cruelly dubbed “Homelight.”
In Episode 6, the show got to Herogasm, a party for superheroes that lasted all weekend. Aside from the things that aren’t safe for work, it’s also where Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie vs. Homelander, one of the best superhero battles ever put on film, takes place. Homelander loses, which is strange, but he gets away quickly.
In Episode 7, Starlight is hiding out after going after Homelander in a livestream and leaving The Seven in public. She reluctantly helps Kimiko get her powers back after Soldier Boy’s blast by getting her Compound V from the tower.
We learn more about Black Noir’s past as Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie look for Mindstorm. Soldier Boy beat him up and treated him badly while he was on the Payback team, which made other supers dislike him.
During a mission in Nicaragua, a cartoon flashback shows us that Stan Edgar told Black Noir to kill Soldier Boy so that Homelander could take his place. During the fight that followed, Soldier Boy hit him so hard that half of his face melted off and his head broke into pieces.
But the last few minutes are the most powerful: Soldier Boy calls Homelander and tells him that he is his father.
The Boys’ season 3 finale will be available on Prime Video on July 8.
