10 Facts About Gwen Stacy That Only Marvel Comics Fans Know

Fans of Marvel Comics are aware that Gwen Stacy is important in Spider-existence. Man’s The secret to her MCU future may lie in her terrible comic book past.

This year, Spider-Man commemorates his 60th birthday and the publication of Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962, the year of his debut in Marvel Comics. Gwen Stacy is one of the few characters that dominates Spider-comic Man’s book history. Fans can look back on her terrible story during the anniversary to better comprehend both her tragic history and her possible MCU future.

She most likely also makes an appearance in live-action as Spider-Gwen, her multiverse-specific alter ego, who is already well-known in comics and animation. Her escapades in comic books across the multiverse depict a tenacious, legendary figure with an unquestionable future in the Sony Marvel Universe, the MCU, or most likely both.

Gwen Stacy character was created inspired by Stan Lee’s Wife

The Amazing Spider-Man #31 featured the debut of Gwen Stacy, who was co-created by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Steve Ditko. Lee modeled the persona after his wife Joan. With Aunt May in the hospital and Spider-Man dealing with what seemed like a never-ending series of difficulties in New York City, Gwen’s arrival was untimely for Peter Parker.

At Empire State University, where Gwen studied science, she met Peter. They met because of their shared interest in the topic, but readers of Marvel Comics will recall that Peter was slow to recognize Gwen’s enthusiasm.

Slight Burn

Marvel

In Marvel Comics, Gwen Stacy hopes Peter Parker will take notice of her.
Some fans might be surprised that Gwen and Spider-romance Man’s developed slowly given her prominence as one of Spider-biggest Man’s love interests in Marvel Comics. The best example of Peter being unaware of her approaches is in The Amazing Spider-Man #36 where he practically disregarded her in favor of a science exhibit. Peter was frequently preoccupied with other things.

This infuriated Gwen, so she started dating his rivals in an effort to attract his attention (and pique his jealousy). In an effort to attract Peter’s attention, she dated both his buddy Harry Osborn and his sworn enemy Flash Thompson.

Mary Jane and Gwen were close friends

Comic book readers are aware that Mary Jane Watson ultimately prevailed over Gwen to win Peter’s love. That could give the idea that Gwen and Mary Jane were competitors, although they were actually close friends. The two proved closer than most people might recall, with Gwen even referring to Mary Jane as her truest friend, despite the occasional hostility that occasionally existed between them, particularly around The Amazing Spider-Man #51.

Modern comics frequently looked back at the character’s early days and in-depth examined Gwen’s relationships. This gave her friendship with MJ greater complexity, which the films might use if she ever show up in the MCU.

The Wild Land

Marvel

Gwen leaves for England after her father passes away, which strains her bond with Peter. After they reconcile, she joins him in the Savage Land where Kraven The Hunter, one of Spider-greatest Man’s comic book foes who will star in his own Sony Marvel Universe film, kidnaps her. Given that, this plot may allude to Gwen’s future on the big screen.

The Amazing Spider-Man #103 and 104 are the issues where the adventure is set. After No Way Home, Spider-future Man’s in live-action is undetermined, therefore this plot might serve as a model for introducing Gwen and well-known characters like Ka-Zar.

The Day Gwen Stacy Passed Away

Marvel

Comic book readers are aware that Gwen’s demise in The Amazing Spider-Man #121 is still among the most startling in the history of Marvel Comics. The Green Goblin irrevocably upset the balance of the Spider-Man comics when he threw her off the Brooklyn Bridge and left Peter with a gaping wound that never fully recovered.

In comics, Gwen’s passing stood out as the exception. Particularly considering her importance, most characters never pass away or instantly return. For many years, Gwen didn’t appear in any comic books, but her narrative wasn’t done.

Clone Saga

Marvel

Another option for Gwen in live-action exists should the MCU or Sony Marvel Universe decide to explore the contentious Clone Saga from the 1990s. In The Amazing Spider-Man #142, Gwen Stacy made a comeback as a clone. Ben Reilly, better known as the Scarlet Spider, was also featured in this plot.

This plot served as the model for the 1990s saga that gave rise to several clones. Up until her passing in 2011, the Gwen clone lived her own life in London as Joyce Delaney. This plot might provide Gwen a way to return if the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man makes a live-action comeback.

Past Sins

Marvel

Fans of Marvel Comics are aware that the live-action version of Sins Past should be avoided. The convoluted plot from the 1990s exposed Gwen’s relationship with Norman Osborn, the person who killed her. They also secretly gave birth to twins, which is more than they already did. This, to put it mildly, destroyed Gwen’s persona and remained an unsettling component of her legacy up until recently.

Recent comics reversed the retcon, showing that Gwen didn’t have the affair but that the twins were once more the result of cloning, created by fusing the DNA of Gwen and Norman.

Spider-Gwen

Marvel

In the 2000s, Gwen’s comic book saga was finally over, but 2014 brought about a sea change. In Edge of Spider-Verse #2, a Gwen Stacy impersonator showed up as the Ghost-Spider. When the radioactive spider bit this alternate universe’s version instead of Peter on Earth-65, she acquired superpowers.

This Gwen’s meteoric rise to fame restored the character’s notoriety and gave her a fresh start free from the burden of her terrible past. With little delay, Spider-Gwen received her own comic book, and she now makes appearances in animated films like the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – Part One.

Secret Wars

On the front cover of Marvel Comics Secret Wars #1, superheroes engage in combat.
The next Secret Wars film presents Gwen with another opportunity to enter the MCU. Gwen was banished from Earth-65 to an alternative universe as a result of the 2015 comic book event that wiped out the multiverse. She joined forces with other Spider-Man incarnations to battle Norman Osborn, the mayor of New York City in this reality.

At this point, Miles Morales also entered the main Marvel canon, which means that both significant Spider-variants may make their live-action debuts in this eagerly awaited film.

Unexpectedly Returning

Although Gwen Stacy from Earth-616’s original version is no longer alive, she just made a surprise comeback in The Amazing Spider-Man #10. The comic depicts the Celestial Progenitor using Gwen’s visage as his emissary to assess Spider-eligibility Man’s to live as part of the continuing A.X.E. Judgment Day crossover event.

This results in an emotional reunion that makes you wonder if this is really Gwen. She expresses to Peter how much she misses him, demonstrating to followers that even after 60 years, their love and anguish still exist.

Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Where, Who, Why, and How

In the world of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy subfranchise, Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña, was presumed dead after being thrown off a cliff on the planet Vormir in Avengers: Infinity War. However, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, she is back, albeit as an alternate version of herself. The rules of time travel in Avengers: Endgame created an alternate universe where an alternate version of Gamora still exists. This alternate version of Gamora, along with her sister Nebula, was kidnapped by Alternate Thanos and his loyal assassin daughters, and they followed the Avengers back to the main MCU timeline. Main Timeline Nebula killed her alternate self and convinced Alternate Gamora to fight for the good guys. Although Alternate Gamora is alive and well in the main timeline, she declines to join the Guardians as she has never met them or fallen in love with Star-Lord.

Gamora

Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña, is a pivotal character in the Guardians of the Galaxy subfranchise, but she was thought to be dead after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. So, how is Gamora alive in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Let’s take a look at where she is, who she is, why she is alive, and how she is back.

Who is Gamora in the MCU?

Gamora, the deadliest woman in the galaxy, was introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. She was adopted by Thanos after he conquered her planet and killed 50% of its population. Gamora defected from Thanos’ forces and teamed up with the Guardians to keep the Kree general Ronan the Accuser from obtaining the Power Stone. She also encouraged her sister Nebula to defect from Thanos as well.

Where is Gamora in the main MCU timeline?

Technically, Gamora is dead. Thanos abducted her and threw her off a cliff on the planet Vormir, as the sacrifice required to obtain the Soul Stone during the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Gamora | Marvel Studios’ Legends

Why is Gamora alive again?

Zoe Saldaña is under contract to play Gamora, and her character is an essential part of the Guardians of the Galaxy subfranchise. But in-universe, the rules of time travel in Avengers: Endgame created an alternate universe where an alternate version of Gamora still exists.

How is Gamora alive in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

During the time heist in Endgame, Nebula and War Machine traveled back in time to intercept the Power Stone before the Guardians, Kree, or Thanos obtained it. However, they created an alternate universe where an alternate version of Thanos became aware that there was a timeline in which he gathered all the Infinity Stones and snapped half of the universe dead, which caused the Avengers to time-travel to collect the Infinity Stones. After kidnapping the main timeline Nebula, Alternate Thanos and his loyal assassin daughters, Alternate Gamora and Nebula, followed them back to the main MCU timeline. Main Timeline Nebula killed her alternate self and convinced Alternate Gamora to fight for the good guys. After Iron Man sacrificed himself to snap away all of “Thanos’ forces,” Alternate Gamora remained in the main MCU timeline but declined to join up with the Guardians, having never met them or fallen in love with Star-Lord.

In conclusion, while we don’t know what that means for Alternate Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we know she is in it.

It will be interesting to see how Alternate Gamora’s storyline unfolds in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Given her unique perspective and experiences, there are endless possibilities for where her character arc could go. Perhaps she will struggle to adapt to the new timeline, or maybe she will become a pivotal player in the battle against the villainous Adam Warlock.

Whatever the case may be, fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the opportunity to see how Alternate Gamora fits into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the film set to be directed by James Gunn and featuring a star-studded cast, it is sure to be a thrilling and emotional ride for both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise.
