Ahead of Thor 4, Disney+ has announced surprise episodes of Marvel Studios Legends.

As the MCU develops with new heroes and villains in Phase 4, it might be difficult to recall what happened in prior ventures. As a consequence, Marvel unveiled a new program called Marvel Studios: Legends that would allow fans to catch up on the character’s history in the series so far. This project serves as a quick refresher of some of their most famous MCU moments before to their next on-screen appearance. Given that Thor: Love and Thunder is coming up next, it’s time for the film’s main characters to shine in their individual Legends episodes.

Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder will have his fourth solo adventure in Love and Thunder, making him the only MCU hero to do so. The planned sequel takes place sometime after the dramatic events of Avengers: Endgame, implying that a lot has transpired to the titular Asgardian after he assisted Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in defeating Thanos.

Along with Thor, the sequel will include a slew of returning characters, including Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster and Tessa Thompson’s King Valkyrie of New Asgard.

Now, ahead of Thor 4, Disney has released a fresh set of Legends episodes to allow fans to relive the heroes’ MCU adventure.

Thor 4 Gets the Legends Treatment from Marvel Studios

On Friday, July 1, Disney+ Germany stated that three episodes of Marvel Studios: Legends devoted to the principal characters of Thor: Love and Thunder would be published.

Many fans are surprised by this release since the episodes were not featured on Disney+’s official July 2022 release schedule.

Although the House of Mouse hasn’t revealed which characters will be featured in the episodes, it’s safe to presume that they’ll concentrate around Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. A dual-feature starring Valkyrie and Taika Waititi’s Korg might potentially be considered.

Back in May, Disney took a similar approach by releasing Marvel Studios: Legends episodes for Doctor Strange, Wong, and the Scarlet Witch, just in time for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to be released.

Thor Returns with New and Powerful Allies

Marvel Studios: Legends episodes starring Thor, Jane Foster, and Valkyrie will let viewers to experience these characters’ epic events from the Infinity Saga.

Thor’s path in the MCU has been intriguing, with the character losing several significant characters from his background. Thor’s determination to become a hero after losing both parents to his brother Loki is unrivaled, and more of his progress will be shown in Love and Thunder.

Given the nature of Legends, it’s unclear if Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be featured, particularly since Marvel just removed the God of Mischief from their official summary. A similar problem occurred with Doctor Strange’s recap, when the events of No Way Home were removed from his Legends episode owing to Sony Pictures’ ownership of Spider-character Man’s rights.

However, since Loki is owned by Marvel Studios, there are no rights issues. It’s conceivable that this was done on purpose to tease a future Thor and Loki tale, or it might be Marvel’s method of differentiating the God of Mischief from the God of Thunder since Loki from his own book is an other version of the character.

Meanwhile, Jane Foster might benefit the most from the Legends treatment, given how long it has been since her previous MCU appearance. Valkyrie’s transformation from a selfish combatant in Sakaar to a full-fledged ruler in New Asgard will be fascinating to observe once viewers see her own MCU recap.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit cinemas on Friday, July 8.
