More video games will feature Spider-Man, Black Panther, and other notable Marvel characters.

A new agreement between Marvel and EA was unveiled today, under which the Madden publisher will release “at least” three new games using Marvel characters. We already know that one of these games, which is presently being created by EA Motive, the same group responsible for the upcoming Dead Space remake, will feature Iron Man.

Last month, EA confirmed rumors by announcing that its Motive team was making a brand-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure game featuring Iron Man. At the time, Motive, which had worked on Dead Space: Remake and earlier on Star Wars: Squadrons, stated that the Iron Man game was still “early in production.” Marvel has announced a new “long-term” partnership with EA, so it appears the company is eager to continue working with the publisher.

In accordance with a press release issued today, Marvel and EA will collaborate on “at least” three new action-adventure games under this new agreement, which will be released on consoles and PC. The aforementioned Iron Man game is one of these games. EA has not yet revealed the details of the other two games. But earlier this year, it was said that EA was working on an open-world action game with Black Panther, and it was being made by a new team under the direction of the former head of Monolith Productions, Kevin Stephens.

Even if we don’t yet know what the other two Marvel action games released by EA will be, we can still include them in the increasing list of Marvel-themed video games that are now in production. A new Spider-Man experience from Insomniac, the upcoming Midnight Suns from Firaxis, a new game starring Captain America and Black Panther from Amy Hennig, and numerous other titles are on that lengthy list.

There may be too many Marvel games there. However, Marvel Snap, its most recent officially licensed card game, is fantastic and a ton of fun. I won’t be upset if some of these new games end up being even half as wonderful as Snap.
