Chris Pratt Gave New Ms. Marvel Actress a Ton of Great Advice
Ms. Marvel will not only bring a new hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it will also include the debut of its main heroine, Iman Vellani, who is a huge admirer of the original series. Vellani’s affection for the Marvel world has been obvious from the start, with the actress often admitting her admiration for Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.
Not only that, but her MCU fangirl moment has piqued the interest of other cast and crew members such as Brie Larson, Ms. Marvel creator Sana Amanat, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Vellani stated that Larson asked her to meet up two days after being cast as Kamala Khan, and that she looks up to Feige and that he is aware of her “obsession” with him.
Another MCU performer seems to have offered Vellani some advise about joining the interwoven series.
Iman Vellani Gets Advice from an MCU Veteran
MCU – Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel actor Iman Vellani spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her MCU debut in the forthcoming Disney+ series and her co-stars in the franchise.
Vellani initially shared how her The Marvels co-stars, Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris, helped her during her debut:
“Brie [Larson] has held my hand throughout this process, and Teyonah [Parris] has been so great.” The Marvel veteran also gave her a “juggernaut of an email with so much advice:”
“He made himself so accessible for any future support I may need, so I fired him an email asking about press and whatnot, and he returned me this behemoth of an email with so much advise and what’s gotten him through this.” Vellani has been a vocal Iron Man fan even before she was cast as Kamala Khan in the MCU. To demonstrate her devotion to the Armored Avenger, the Marvel actress created a short video about him:
“My favorite people on the earth are Robert Downey Jr., Billy Joel, and Kevin Feige.”” The Ms. Marvel actress also shared a sweet meeting with Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige on the set of the Disney+ series:
“I completely froze the day [Feige] arrived to film. He was trying to speak to me, and I just looked at him until he left, and then I walked back to my trailer and wept the most I’d ever cried. That was the most therapeutic sensation I’d ever had.” THR claimed that Vellani’s initial intention before getting cast as Kamala was to study in integrated media at Ontario College of Art & Design University in Toronto. Despite her on-screen success, the rising star has a strong desire to work behind the camera:
“I became interested in cinematography after seeing a number of Ingmar Bergman and Agnès Varda films.” But acting has been going well so far, so we’ll see where this goes.” Vellani also said that she still wants to “experience a variety of things” since she is still young:
“I want to attempt a variety of things since I’m still young and don’t know what I’m excellent at. I want to be a part of something that I’m proud of, that has a positive message, and that Hollywood hasn’t seen before.”
Will Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord Appear in The Marvels?
Whenever a new Marvel star enters the MCU, the veterans of the series have greeted them with wide arms, whether on social media or in person. This strengthens the bonds between the many MCU performers and actresses, resulting in a seamless transition when an eventual crossover occurs.
It’s fair to assume that Iman Vellani is receiving all of the backing she needs for her new Marvel project, which should bode well for the young actress’ future in the series.
It is uncertain whether Vellani and Chris Pratt met by chance, but their tight connection might imply that the latter is associated with The Marvels.
Pratt’s MCU future beyond Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is uncertain, although a return in The Marvels seems possible, given the film’s cosmic nature. The Direct previously revealed that The Marvels would include other Avengers, giving fresh indication that Pratt’s Peter Quill might ultimately appear in the Captain Marvel sequel.
Meanwhile, Vellani’s enthusiasm in undertaking behind-the-scenes work might be a hint of things to come for the actress in her MCU future. The MCU newbie might follow in the footsteps of Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth, who produced Black Widow and Thor: Love and Thunder, respectively.
