Emma Roberts Has Been Cast In Sony’s Spider-Man Universe

When Madame Web hits cinemas, Sony’s Marvel Universe will take a new route. The plot of the next film is believed to concentrate around the Web of Life and Destiny, a three-dimensional construct that serves as a representation of Marvel’s entire Multiverse. While the premise of the film is yet unknown, Madame Web’s profound links to the Web of Life may imply that this may be addressed.

Madame Web is helmed by experienced television filmmaker S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, Bates Motel), and the ensemble is already superb. Dakota Johnson has been cast as the lead, with Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Isabel Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), and Celeste O’Connor joining her (Ghostbusters: Afterlife).

A fresh casting update for the Spider-Man spin-off has surfaced as production for the film is well underway.

Emma Roberts Joins the Marvel Universe at Sony

Emma Roberts has joined the ensemble cast of Sony Pictures’ Madame Web in an unspecified role, according to Deadline. Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabel Merced join the cast.

Madame Web is Roberts’ debut appearance in a Marvel film.

American Horror Story, Scream Queens, Nerve, and We’re The Millers are among Roberts’ past roles.

Emma Roberts will portray which Marvel character in Madame Web?

Emma Roberts has a long history of memorable performances, and it seems that her newest Marvel project will be added to her strong portfolio. Although Roberts’ involvement in the film is yet unknown, Madame Web’s purported narrative may offer fans an indication of which character the actress may portray.

The Spider-Man spin-off, as previously reported by Variety, is a “origin narrative” for the eponymous character, with Madame Web described as an old lady with a chronic autoimmune illness that forces her to link to a life support system like a spider web. In Marvel Comics, after her death, the older Madame Web bequeathed her talents to Julia Carpenter, a version of Spider-Woman.

Given that Madame Web is an origin narrative, it’s probable that Dakota Johnson will portray Charlotte Web, a.k.a. the eponymous figure, with her abilities transferred to Sydney Sweeney’s Julia Carpenter. Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman, was also a part of the character’s narrative in the comics, and this might be the role that Roberts plays in the film.

In the comics, Isabel Merced plays Madame Web’s granddaughter, Charlotte Witter, a villain who bangs heads with the Spider-Women. Of course, the positions may be flipped, but all indications point to Madame Web focusing on the eponymous hero’s narrative with the many Spider-Women.

Madame Web will be released in cinemas on July 7, 2023.
