Groot’s Disney+ spin-off gets a new poster, a release date, and more.
While the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy prepare for a jam-packed 2023, Groot, their fellow Flora Colossus, is planning his own solo expedition. This will be accompanied by I Am Groot, a Guardians spin-off series that will premiere later this year on Disney+ and will follow Baby Groot as he gets up to all kinds of cosmic adventures.
I Am Groot, which was announced in December 2020, would provide bite-sized servings of the MCU fandom’s favorite walking flora as he stars in his own solo trip. The project is being directed by Canadian film director Ryan Little, who also acts as the series’ chief writer, while Adventure Time’s Kirsten Lepore will take her position in the director’s chair.
There isn’t much known about the mini-Marvel series, but fresh news has revealed when the world will get to watch it.

The premiere date for I Am Groot has been announced by Marvel Studios, along with a new poster for the forthcoming Disney+ series.
According to its new description, the Groot-centric collection of streaming shorts will premiere on the service on August 10, with the project concentrating on “Baby Groot’s glorious days growing up, and getting into mischief among the stars.”
Prepare for Groot
Groot has swiftly become one of the most adored characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his appearance in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. That affection became even stronger when the world met his pocket-sized counterpart, Baby Groot, in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
So for many, finding out when this tiny kid will receive his own show will be an intriguing possibility. The statement doesn’t reveal much, but there are a few key points to take away from it.
One of the most intriguing parts of this announcement is the emphasis on music, a motif that runs deep throughout the Guardians series. If the headphones shown atop Groot’s head in this image are more than simply set decoration, viewers may be treated to a brand-new rocking soundtrack, acting as a ‘Awesome Mix Vol 2.5’ before they receive the full 3.0 version in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Another intriguing part of this news is the release date, since it is unknown if this will be a weekly release or whether it will be released all at once. August is becoming rather crowded on Diseny+, with both Andor and She-Hulk commencing their runs in the same month. So, if I Am Groot is planned to be released weekly, it may be lost in the mix when its larger relatives release at the same time.
