A “Guardians of the Galaxy”-themed roller coaster has been coming to Epcot for almost five years now. People have been eager to join Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket, and the rest of the Guardians on their next trip for five years now.

Friends, the wait is almost over.

On Monday, Disney said that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open on May 27. Epcot’s first roller coaster opens this Memorial Day weekend. Here’s everything you need to know about it before then!

Epcot is getting a new “Guardians of the Galaxy” ride.

Here's when Disney's new Marvel-themed roller coaster is going to open.

Like many Disney attractions, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has a story to tell, just like many other Disney attractions have stories.

Queue area: Disney calls it Epcot’s first “other-world” pavilion because of the play on words. It’s where you start your trip! People from Xandar go to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion to learn about them.

When Star-Lord goes to Xandar in the original “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie and meets his friends Gamora, Groot and Rocket for the first time, it’s not a bad idea to get nerdy about it.

The group of people who didn’t know each other at first became teammates and friends, and they have since saved the galaxy… more than once.

Your visit to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion begins with a tour of the Galaxarium – “a planetarium-like exhibition showcasing the similarities and differences between Xandar and Earth’s galaxies” – before, as often happens when the Guardians of the Galaxy are involved, things go a little sideways.

Before you know it, the Guardians are enlisting you to help them save the galaxy yet again on “an urgent mission where you’ll rewind, rotate and head towards the action through an exciting space pursuit.” Of course, the whole thing will be set to the classic songs that the “Guardians” movies are known for.
