Jason Statham, the action star, may have joined the Marvel team…
According to a new report, legendary action star Jason Statham has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ever-expanding pantheon. Jason Statham will be adding his name to the comic book movie roster, courtesy to Giant Freakin Robot, who have been proved entirely correct about various allegations involving the new Marvel outing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The story does not specify who Statham would portray in the MCU, but it does indicate that the actor would make an excellent live-action Union Jack. There have been various variations of Union Jack in Marvel Comics, with the majority of them having no abilities at all. Instead, Union Jack is a guy in peak physical condition, having superior strength, speed, and stamina than any average man. Sounds just like Jason Statham.
Many have compared Union Jack to a cross between James Bond and Batman, and it definitely seems like a position that The Stath would fit into neatly. The first incarnation of the superhero did make his MCU debut, with actor JJ Feild appearing as a member of the Howling Commandos in Captain America: The First Avenger.
Jason Statham is now widely recognized as an action movie hero, with the actor championing no-nonsense, brutal action films. Jason Statham, known for kicking, punching, and shooting his way through bad guys in The Transporter franchise, Safe, Furious 7, The Mechanic series, and Wrath of Man, as well as battling giant sharks in The Meg, would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the MCU as the massively popular franchise continues to inhale every actor in Hollywood.
Statham has previously said that he prefers “old-fashioned style of cinema” over appearing in comic book flicks. They’ve never cast me in one of them, and I doubt the shoes would fit. Otherwise, the cape wouldn’t fit.” If this allegation is accurate, Marvel must have discovered something to alter his mind.
Is Jason Statham going to be in Captain America 4?
Anthony Mackie will play Sam Wilson, the First Avenger who took on the mantle after the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While narrative specifics are still unknown, the addition of Jason Statham to the cast will undoubtedly thrill fans even more than they are already.
Jason Statham has various projects in the works that are not related to comic books. Statham will return to The Expendables franchise in The Expendables 4, battle a shark in Meg 2: The Trench, rejoin with filmmaker Guy Ritchie for the action-comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, and collaborate with director David Ayer on The Bee Keeper.
