MARVEL IS WAR ON FAN THEORIES WITH DOCTOR STRANGE 2.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the highly anticipated sequel directed by Sam Raimi, was released before the game. The trailer included one big surprise, a booming voice that resembled Charles Xavier. It was widely assumed he — and the Illuminati — would feature in the new film, but a recent interview raises concerns.

For Marvel fans, Professor X’s return in Doctor Strange 2 was a given. Fans have long expected an MCU/X-Men crossover, particularly after MCU movies like Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home established the universe.

It’s unclear whether or not it’s the real Charles Xavier, according to Multiverse of Madness producer Richie Palmer in an interview with Empire. ”Just because you heard something familiar doesn’t imply it’s the same person,” Palmer added.

That’s a big deal for Marvel fans. The multiverse makes it apparent that we won’t receive easy confirmation of any fan hypotheses until a new film or TV program. Either:

The multiverse will be utilized as a one-size-fits-all explanation for a character emerging as a variation.

This is a fun problem. The thrill of mystery box movies is ruined when Marvel meddles with fan conjecture. If a fan properly anticipates a narrative twist, they should be credited for it rather than be told they’re incorrect and then proved right.

Dr. Strange also appears in another Marvel release, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Anything may happen now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is open to parallel realities. The “because multiverse” argument will be more prevalent than ever in Doctor Strange 2.

Hopefully, individuals in authority recognize the delicate balance between fans and franchises. The MCU fanbase is big on theorizing. But when the movie or TV show’s makers and artists purposefully misdirect and deceive to fans on press tours, it kills the anticipation.

IN THEATERS MAY 6, 2022, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS.
