MARVEL WILL NEVER BE DONE WITH THAOSIS. Even years after the Mad Titan was reduced to ashes in Avengers: Endgame, most new series and movies feel compelled to acknowledge the figure. But, if a recent rumor is to be believed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may be returning to Thanos in a major way — and it all has to do with his brother, Starfox.
THE MCU AND STARFOX
In an Eternals post-credits sequence, the MCU introduced Starfox (aka, Eros of Titan). The character, played by Harry Styles, is described as “the Royal Prince of Titan, Thanos’ brother, the Knave of Hearts, Black Roger’s defeater, the renowned adventurer, Starfox of Mystery Planet.” We haven’t seen or heard from him since, but a new report may explain Marvel’s strategy.
A report from The SRP Report indicates that a Starfox project is in the works at Marvel Studios. While the article does not identify any particular sources (and the site does not seem to have a proven track record), it does provide a few potentially fascinating tidbits regarding Harry Styles’ MCU future that are worth examining — even if you should take everything with a grain of salt.
According to the article, it’s unknown if the Starfox project will be a show or a film, but it’s in the early phases of production. The blog also refers to a previous story from Giant Freaking Robot, which claimed Styles had inked a five-film contract with Marvel Studios.
Finally, The SRP Report speculates that this alleged program or film might be an origin narrative for Thanos…
THANOS AND STARFOX
Thanos is famously dead in the MCU, but if Starfox gets an origin story, it opens the door for Marvel to depict a different aspect of the Mad Titan. Eros is Thanos’ younger brother in the comics, but Thanos suffers from “Deviant Syndrome,” which explains his strange appearance and usually harsh disposition.
In contrast, Eros is an attractive man with the ability to make others happy (yes, seriously). This capability has no impact on Thanos since he lacks a pleasure center and hence is impervious to Starfox’s abilities. This causes a lot of friction between the two brothers until they finally split up.
In other words, if we’re going to witness Starfox’s genesis tale, Thanos will undoubtedly play a role. Remember, it’s unlikely to be the mature version we know and love. That’s correct. Prepare for a teen Thanos.
