Thor: Love and Thunder, which officially began its promotional tour on April 18, is racing toward its July 8 release date with thrilling new upgrades at every step. The first teaser showed a fit God of Thunder among the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korg, and Valkyrie, and ended with a peek of Natalie Portman as the Mighty Thor.
While Portman had no speech and appeared for less than five seconds, her reappearance will have a significant influence on the plot that Thor 4 will bring to the ever-expanding MCU. Fans are eager to see how Jane gets into possession of a reassembled Mjolnir as the powerful hammer returns to glory, which has been confirmed to take on Jane’s comic tale when she is diagnosed with cancer.
Following that teaser, fans of the MCU have had a couple more full glimpses at Portman’s reimagined hero, with one showing her suited out in full armor and another showing her at a meeting of the Gods with Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.
With the release of a second teaser during Game 4 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals, Marvel Studios offered the finest look yet at the MCU’s newest power player.
Thor 4 Trailer Highlights Natalie Portman
Marvel Studios debuted fresh footage of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/The Mighty Thor in the second full trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder.
As the film went farther into the conflict, Marvel replicated the shot of Portman from the first teaser early in the movie. She then takes off her helmet when she sees her ex-boyfriend in his improved outfit, and Thor is taken aback to find her carrying Mjolnir as a building collapses next to them:
Thor and Jane stroll along the streets of Olympus in front of Korg and Valkyrie, in the greatest photo yet of Portman in her full Mighty Thor outfit. As Thor’s new blue-and-yellow costume glows in the light, her new blonde hair flows under her comic-accurate helmet:
In this new scene, Portman has her first real chance to shine, brandishing Mjolnir against incoming bad guys as she reunites with Thor. Right before the title card, she raises Mjolnir over her head and summons a torrent of lightning into the hammer, flaunting her ripped new muscles as she employs her new abilities:
“Eight years, seven months, and six days…” Natalie Portman is back, and she isn’t fooling around in her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2013.
According to reports, Portman spent a significant amount of time at the gym working out to ensure she had the physique to represent the new Goddess of Thunder, particularly because she was returning alongside a more buffer Chris Hemsworth than ever before. It’s easy to say that this trailer alone demonstrated how much her hard work paid off, allowing her new heroic form to shine as she holds Mjolnir and smacks down anyone is in her way.
With Thor and Jane having split up before to the events of 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, the sequel’s plot will most likely revolve on their reunion as they struggle to figure out where they stand with one another. With Jane’s new abilities coming after “eight years, seven months, and six days…give or take,” it provides a delightful new element for Thor to contend with as his supporting cast gets even larger.
Overall, Marvel is determined to reintroduce Portman into the forefront as she becomes a fully grown hero for the first time in her third major MCU film (fourth when counting Avengers: Endgame). Her tale will bring lots of interest to the overall narrative, and she will undoubtedly be one of the franchise’s most strong new characters upon her return.
Thor: Love and Thunder will debut in theaters on July 8.
