Exclusive: Sadie Sink Has Joined The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Whether they like it or not, every live actor (and perhaps some dead ones revived by CGI magic) will feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some time. Stranger Things breakthrough star Sadie Sink is the latest to join Marvel, according to our trusted and verified sources; there are so many roles that a young star might be playing in the forthcoming Phases of the MCU, but we believe we have a solid. Sadie Sink is expected to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Thunderbolts’ Songbird, better known as the villain Screaming Mimi.

There have been many iterations of the Thunderbolts team in Marvel Comics, but the most well-known is the original, which debuted in the late 1990s after the Onslaught crossover event. Sadie Sink is rumored to portray Marvel’s Songbird, a criminal who first masqueraded as a hero after the Avengers and Fantastic Four were assumed dead when Professor Xavier’s negative mentality became a world-destroying monster after he wiped out his old frenemy Magneto’s memory (comic crossovers are complicated). Songbird is often shown as a disturbed adolescent (something Sadie Sink has some experience with from Stranger Things) who ultimately becomes the group’s leader when they rehabilitate. Sadie Sink has the theatrical skills and emotional intensity to portray a Marvel heroine caught between anger of the world and a desire to be a hero, so we really hope she shows up here.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige officially disclosed some specifics about the future Thunderbolts project, albeit we still don’t know much. We know the picture will not be released until 2024 (at the earliest, given the amount of delays blockbuster films tend to experience these days), and we may expect a few villains to appear. Baron Zemo, who has previously been depicted by Daniel Brühl in the feature film Captain America: Civil War and the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, would probably lead Sadie Sink in Marvel’s biggest gang of covert lords of evil. There’s also a chance we’ll see Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell’s US Agent, and any number of ethically questionable characters introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.

Of course, Marvel has a busy schedule ahead of them. The newly revealed Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Avengers: Secret Wars, Fantastic Four, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and other Marvel projects give plenty of opportunities for Sadie Sink. Given that Stranger Things is coming to an end, we’re looking forward to seeing Sadie Sink join another mega-franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and continue her incredible rise in show business. We believe it would be a terrific use of her abilities and imposing on-screen presence if she played Songbird in the next Thunderbolts film.
