Loki, the program that launched numerous multiverse forms of the Trickster God and the likely next great evil of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, may be the most interesting of Disney+’s Marvel exclusives. Is Season 2 going to be even more exciting for fans? The directors in charge of the next batch seem to believe so.

For Loki’s upcoming escapades, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson are filling in for Season 1 director Kate Herron. They confessed in a recent interview with Comicbook that they had a hectic year that included directing two episodes of Moon Knight. Following that encounter, they’ve signed up for the whole season of Loki, and they claim that both series have a similar thread.
“I think the most important thing about Loki is that it’s a lot like Moon Knight in that there’s simply no need to do it if it’s not going to be something new and original,” Moorhead stated. “It’s interesting, it seems like Marvel would be prepared to walk away unless it’s something they thought was surprising.” Like from Moon Knight, and particularly since Moon Knight is a figure about whom nothing is known. Isn’t it about to change? So we’ve taken off our gloves and are free to do anything we please. When we are confronted with the unexpected, everyone at Marvel including ourselves become extremely thrilled. We also hope that others watching feel the same way, and we’ll bring all of it to Loki.”
