Marvel fans are once again in for a wait between MCU releases, but one of the next flicks is Thor: Love and Thunder. In late April, fans were given to the film’s first teaser trailer. While the wait for that preview seemed millennium-long, the wait for the next trailer is almost over. The new trailer for Marvel’s Love and Thunder will be shown during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals on Monday.
A hilarious video was created on the Thor social media channels to make the news. The video includes Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and filmmaker Taika Waititi, all of whom are known for their offbeat antics. They unveil NBA superstar Kevin Love behind a curtain, informing supporters through cards that the new teaser would be released on Monday. This is a pretty sweet little promotion that will make you fall in love with Waititi all over again while also being a clever play on words with Love’s last name being part of the film’s title.
Some fans may say that this new trailer comes too soon, given that the teaser was released just a month ago, but Love and Thunder is nearing the end of its marketing campaign. The film’s release date is barely over a month away. With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now in cinemas and Ms. Marvel releasing in early June, this is an excellent moment to remind Marvel fans of Waititi’s astonishing brilliance.
The teaser video showed a bright film that seemed to be building on Ragnarok’s more goofy tone. Since then, additional photos from the film have been revealed, giving us a better look at Thor’s new blue and gold armor as well as Natalie Portman as Jane Foster as Mighty Thor. The first teaser gave us a lot of ideas about what the film would be about, with Thor embarking on a voyage of self-discovery, but this new trailer will be more of a story-centric affair.
Hopefully, we’ll get more hints about Thor and Jane’s relationship, as well as how significant a part the Guardians of the Galaxy will play. What every fan is looking forward to seeing is the first official glimpse of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher in action. We’ve seen the villain in action figure form, but our excitement for the character is palpable.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in cinemas on July 8, 2022. While we wait for the trailer, enjoy the new amusing NBA advertisement and read the official narrative summary below.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on a trip unlike any he’s ever undertaken — a search for inner peace. However, his retirement is cut short by a cosmic assassin known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who desires the annihilation of the gods. To counteract the menace, Thor enlists the assistance of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor’s amazement, wields his enchanted hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. They go on a perilous cosmic journey together to solve the secret of the God Butcher’s wrath and stop him before it’s too late.
