A Ta-Nehisi Coates-hosted mix of audio narrative storytelling and interviews with stars like Ryan Coogler, Kevin Feige, Angela Bassett, and others
The highly anticipated movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which debuts in theaters nationwide on November 11, will be the subject of a six-episode podcast produced by Proximity Media in association with Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment. Along with the company’s founders Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian, producer Paola Mardo, head of audio at Proximity, also acts as executive producer on the project. The inaugural podcast from Proximity Media’s new audio section, a preview of the program is currently accessible on all popular podcasting websites, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Mardo declared: “Ever since Ryan, Zinzi, and Sev gave this project to Proximity’s Audio division, our aim has been to portray the story of the making of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ with as much heart and authenticity as the movie itself. The fantastic partnership between our amazing host Ta-Nehisi Coates, our gifted podcast production team, and our friends at Marvel and Disney allowed us to achieve this aim with our first episode while also establishing new ground.
The first episode, which premieres on Nov. 3, includes a discussion between Coates and co-writer and director Ryan Coogler. The two artists and friends discuss the cultural significance of “Black Panther,” Chadwick Boseman’s legacy, and how he inspired the cast and crew. Ryan Coogler is the only storyteller I adore more than anyone else, according to Coates, who is debuting as a podcast host. Any opportunity to collaborate with him, Proximity Media, and Marvel, is deserving. It was simply too amazing to pass up the chance to document the production of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
In order to commemorate the original “Black Panther” movie’s fifth anniversary, more episodes will be made accessible each week beginning in January 2023. Cast and crew members, including Angela Bassett and Dominique Thorne, will be in attendance, along with composer Ludwig Göransson, producer Kevin Feige, director Autumn Durald Arkapaw, production designer Hannah Beachler, co-writer Joe Robert Cole, and others. Each episode will incorporate the host’s narration, Göransson’s original score, movie clips, and field recordings in addition to the talk of the guests. James Kim is in charge of the podcast’s story editing. Cameron Kell and Cedric Wilson edit the audio. Pat Mesiti-Miller provided the additional music and sound design. Lauryn Newson handles the audio engineering. Polina Cherezova provided support with the production.
