Marvel
“What if…?” Everything we know about Season 2 !
We can talk about this new season even though we don’t know a lot about it yet. All that we know about What If…? “Season 2.

If… It’s the Marvel show’s second season, and so far we know a lot about it.
Get to know how the multiverse of the MCU could grow even more!
When Disney+ launched in 2021, a lot of MCU shows will be on there, like What If…? Based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name, this animated anthology looks at what would happen if certain events in the MCU happened in a different way.
This series also features many actors from the MCU who return to their roles, such as Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Hayley Atwell, Chris Hemsworth, Michael B. Jordan, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillan, Sebastian Stan, and Paul Rudd, among others. More tragically, this is also the last time that Chadwick Boseman has been in the MCU, which is sad.
Because the multiverse is so big, it makes sense that Disney+ and Marvel Studios would keep the show going for another season. We can talk about this new season even though we don’t know a lot about it yet. All that we know about What If…? “Season 2.”
When will What If…? Season 2 be out?
If… There was no official release date for Season 2 other than that the season will be out “soon.” The show’s executive producer told Collider’s Steve Weintraub back in August 2021 that they want to release a new season every year:
People who work on animated movies know that it takes a lot of money and time to make. We were lucky enough to get the go-ahead for a second season early enough that we could put it out next year. We’ll have to wait and see. As you know, I don’t want to predict what the future will be in this new world we live in. Our goal is to make it an annual release. Also, Bryan Andrews told Entertainment Weekly two months later that all of the episodes for Season 2 have already been written, which will help the show’s production team stay on track with its plan for each year.
The Season 2 Trailer: Is there a “What If…?”
Marvel hasn’t released a trailer for What If…? Season 2, but we’ll add it to this page when it does.
People who play What If… Season two?
It’s possible that all the actors from Season 2 of What If…? will return for Season 3. The actors from Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as Eternals, could show up in this season if it deals with plot points from Phase 4.
When Will What If…? Season 2 has.
First, What If…? Season 2 will have nine 30-minute episodes.
It said this when asked about how long each episode was:
“‘A half-hour’ was the goal for every episode we made. Some of them are a little longer, and some of them are a little short. It was all about the time that could be used. It was our goal to tell as many stories as possible. That nine-episode (now ten-episode) run felt right to us because we had to work with a certain amount of money.” Winderbaum later said that both seasons were supposed to have ten episodes each, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the team to change their plans because of that.
Is there going to be a Marvel Zombies movie spinoff?
At the Disney+ Day event in 2021, Marvel said that a Marvel Zombies spin-off series is in the works. Marvel Zombies is based on a comic book metaseries written by Robert Kirkman and drawn by Sean Phillips. It takes place in an alternate universe where many superheroes have been turned into zombies. As time went on, these comics were turned into an episode from Season 1 of What If…? called “What If…Zombies?” What we know so far is that the spinoff will be set in the same universe as “What If…Zombies?!” Bryan Andrews will direct the show, and Robot Chicken writer Zeb Wells will write the show from start to finish, but not much else. However, fans of What If…? are sure to enjoy this spinoff.
Season 2 of What If…
When it comes to the plot of What If…?, little is known. At this point, the show’s head writer, A.C. Bradley, did give some hints to EW about what to expect in Season 2.
“Going into the second season, we’re going to keep the anthology format. There will be new stories, new heroes, a lot of fun, and more from Phase Four than we were able to do this season. The Eternals, Shang-Chi, and the Black Widow characters might show up in hints. This is what we hope. Getting to see the whole infinite multiverse is what makes What If…? so much fun. So we try to bounce around as much as we can. Captain Carter is one of my favorites, but I want to play with all of them. I’m very excited to show off new worlds and new heroes. I can’t wait!” When this season came to an end, there was a team-up with characters from different universes. Bradley told EW that this season will focus less on “end of the world” stories and more on “character stories and these heroes and showing a different side of them that people don’t expect and hopefully they can relate to.”
Andrews told Variety in October 2021 that Captain Carter would be a “relatively safe bet” to come back. This isn’t surprising, since the mid-credits scene in the Season 1 finale hinted that we would see more of her, so it’s not a big surprise.
Probably, one of the episodes will be about the Gamora we saw at the end of Season 1. Bradley told us why we didn’t see more of her in Season 1.
“We had planned on having a fun, light-hearted, living, breathing Tony Stark-centric episode with Gamora in the early part of the season. When we had the COVID pandemic, one of our animation houses was hit very hard. The episode had to be moved into Season 2, because it wouldn’t be done in time. If you think about what we’ve all been through in the last two years, pushing an episode of TV is nothing. We also got it. We hope the fans have fun next year.” On the other hand, people who want to see different versions of the live-action Disney+ shows may be very disappointed. Bradley said that in the same interview with Variety, he said:
“In Season 2, we do a lot of the same things as the live-action shows on Disney+. There was a lot of writing already. Some of the things that came up in those shows may not get a chance to be explored because we’re almost at the same time. There is a person in charge of Marvel Studios. No, no, no! Kevin said that. Not at all! Don’t do that! “Not yet,” I replied. If these things keep going, we might be able to play with some of that one day. But we can play with other parts of the MCU, for sure. There’s a lot of good soil.”

Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Where, Who, Why, and How
In the world of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy subfranchise, Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña, was presumed dead after being thrown off a cliff on the planet Vormir in Avengers: Infinity War. However, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, she is back, albeit as an alternate version of herself. The rules of time travel in Avengers: Endgame created an alternate universe where an alternate version of Gamora still exists. This alternate version of Gamora, along with her sister Nebula, was kidnapped by Alternate Thanos and his loyal assassin daughters, and they followed the Avengers back to the main MCU timeline. Main Timeline Nebula killed her alternate self and convinced Alternate Gamora to fight for the good guys. Although Alternate Gamora is alive and well in the main timeline, she declines to join the Guardians as she has never met them or fallen in love with Star-Lord.

Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña, is a pivotal character in the Guardians of the Galaxy subfranchise, but she was thought to be dead after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. So, how is Gamora alive in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Let’s take a look at where she is, who she is, why she is alive, and how she is back.
Who is Gamora in the MCU?
Gamora, the deadliest woman in the galaxy, was introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. She was adopted by Thanos after he conquered her planet and killed 50% of its population. Gamora defected from Thanos’ forces and teamed up with the Guardians to keep the Kree general Ronan the Accuser from obtaining the Power Stone. She also encouraged her sister Nebula to defect from Thanos as well.
Where is Gamora in the main MCU timeline?
Technically, Gamora is dead. Thanos abducted her and threw her off a cliff on the planet Vormir, as the sacrifice required to obtain the Soul Stone during the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
Why is Gamora alive again?
Zoe Saldaña is under contract to play Gamora, and her character is an essential part of the Guardians of the Galaxy subfranchise. But in-universe, the rules of time travel in Avengers: Endgame created an alternate universe where an alternate version of Gamora still exists.
How is Gamora alive in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
During the time heist in Endgame, Nebula and War Machine traveled back in time to intercept the Power Stone before the Guardians, Kree, or Thanos obtained it. However, they created an alternate universe where an alternate version of Thanos became aware that there was a timeline in which he gathered all the Infinity Stones and snapped half of the universe dead, which caused the Avengers to time-travel to collect the Infinity Stones. After kidnapping the main timeline Nebula, Alternate Thanos and his loyal assassin daughters, Alternate Gamora and Nebula, followed them back to the main MCU timeline. Main Timeline Nebula killed her alternate self and convinced Alternate Gamora to fight for the good guys. After Iron Man sacrificed himself to snap away all of “Thanos’ forces,” Alternate Gamora remained in the main MCU timeline but declined to join up with the Guardians, having never met them or fallen in love with Star-Lord.
In conclusion, while we don’t know what that means for Alternate Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we know she is in it.
It will be interesting to see how Alternate Gamora’s storyline unfolds in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Given her unique perspective and experiences, there are endless possibilities for where her character arc could go. Perhaps she will struggle to adapt to the new timeline, or maybe she will become a pivotal player in the battle against the villainous Adam Warlock.
Whatever the case may be, fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the opportunity to see how Alternate Gamora fits into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the film set to be directed by James Gunn and featuring a star-studded cast, it is sure to be a thrilling and emotional ride for both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise.
